The Great Outback Treasure Hunt - Team Shaw Thing

By Margo Priestly

Let’s soar together! Help me raise funds to keep the Flying Doctor flying.

Help keep the Flying Doctor flying! I’m raising funds so the Royal Flying Doctor Service can respond at a moment’s notice for people living, working, and travelling in remote, rural and regional areas in Australia.

Last year alone, the RFDS reached more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary health care. That’s one person every two minutes!

The Flying Doctor is always on call to help and save lives, and that’s why I’m asking you to chip in to and help the RFDS to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.

Go on. Please donate now towards my fundraiser, and let’s see how high our tally can fly.

Who we are!

Help Team St. George Conquer the Great Outback Treasure Hunt!

G’day legends! We’re Margo, Beau, Paxton, and Amelia, a team of Outback newcomers who moved to St. George in July 2024, and we’re taking on the Great Outback Treasure Hunt in Paroo Shire on April 5-6, 2025. This is the very first time this event is happening, and we want to help make it a huge success so that it becomes an annual tradition!

We’re doing this to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS)—an absolute lifeline for remote Queensland communities like ours. Whether it’s emergencies, routine medical care, or providing access to health services for people in the bush, RFDS is an essential service that keeps Outback Australians safe.

Why Should You Get Involved?

Join the Hunt! – Got a sense of adventure? Think you can outsmart a couple of town newbies? For just $115 per team of four (one car, one epic challenge), you can enter and join us in the fun! Let’s make sure this event is a massive hit so it can continue every year.

Support Our Team! – If you’re not keen on tackling the outback yourself, you can sponsor us instead! Every dollar raised goes to RFDS, and we promise to entertain you with updates on our inevitable misadventures.

Outback Locals for the Win! – We might be new to St. George, but we’re backing our fellow locals. It’d be a tragedy if some city folk came out here and took home the title—we cannot let that happen!

What’s in Store for Us?

The event kicks off at 8 AM on April 5th and finishes at 4 PM on April 6th, with one night of camping under the outback stars (or in our case, arguing over how to set up the tent). Expect to see:
✔️ Beau confidently leading us… in completely the wrong direction
✔️ Paxton, the self-proclaimed “strategy expert,” taking charge
✔️ Amelia fearlessly handling the local wildlife (or screaming at a bug, either way)
✔️ Me wondering why I ever thought this was a good idea

We’re all about having a laugh, supporting a great cause, and making sure this event is a roaring success. Whether you join a team yourself or donate to support us, you’ll be part of something awesome.

My impact

So far, my fundraising could help…

Provide a full range of life saving medication such as sedatives, pain relief and antibiotics so the Flying Doctor can be ready for 6 emergency situations.

Send 3 life saving-medical chest to remote communities

Provide one on one counselling to 2 outback Australians during a difficult time

Purchase 1 pieces of equipment that could include ventilators, defibrillators and infusion pumps which are used on board flights
